Curio Blueberry Gin winner of best flavoured gin at Great British Food Awards
Curio Spirits, Cornwall's artisan distillers, have scooped another prestigious award to add to their glowing and growing list of accolades. Curio Blueberry Gin, the latest in a line of delicious spirits from husband and wife team William and Rubina Tyler-Street, romped home the winner of the flavoured gin section in the Great British Food Awards 2019. Beating a long line of other distilleries from across the UK, Curio Blueberry Gin was judged by chef and owner of Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons Raymond Blanc OBE. In granting the award, Raymond Blanc said: This gin has a strong blueberry flavour that's not too sweet. It has a delicate hint of lime to make it a fresh and enjoyable drink. Curio Blueberry Gin is distilled with blueberries from a former Cornish monastery and takes its water from the Cornish Alps - a private borehole high on Bodmin Moor. Spirit alchemist and chief distiller William said: A lot of passion has gone into Curio Blueberry Gin. The spring water, naturally filtered through granite, has an authentic, neat effervescence leaving a crispness on the tongue. The blueberries are handpicked a few miles inland from our coastal distillery, cultivated with care and attention. Co-owner Rubina added: We couldn't be more delighted to bring this award home to Cornwall, it's the only one we entered this year and felt the Great British Food Magazine was a good fit. Curio Blueberry Gin is a fruity gin with notes of rose, vanilla and peach and a delight with tonic, rose lemonade or with soda and is best garnished with fresh blueberries and a wedge of lime. Curio has introduced new bottles for its range made from 100{749aa8a590ccaf22a007dda199323726599a5b07bf8f77f7daecd3520b5d1560} recycled glass, one of only a few distilleries in the UK to bolster its environmental credentials in such a manner.
