[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Most of us think of an ice-cold G&T as a treat- something that makes us happy, brings together our friends on social occasions or helps us unwind after a particularly stressful week. But it turns out that drinking gin regularly could be good for our bodies (not just our sanity).
1) Juniper berries are SUPERFOODS
As the key ingredient to gin, juniper berries are essential to our favourite tipple. These supper berries are jam-packed with infection fighting qualities, making gin the most natural spirit. Being full of antioxidants means lots of benefits for our bodies, including anti-wrinkle properties (so your gin could be making you look younger!
2) Indigestion Cure
Often alcohol is to blame for digestive problems, but it's been said that the lip-puckering flavour that we love so much from gin can also increase stomach acid secretions and digestive enzymes, helping your body to break down foods better and therefore leading to better digestion.
3) Herbal Remedy
Because of its natural herb make-up, gin could be as good for your body as an herbal tea. Including juniper berries, coriander, cassia, nutmeg, sage, angelica root and rosemary (as well as Rock Samphire in our very own Curio gin), it's a health-boosting smorgasbord of herbs and spices.
4) Mix It Up
It's not just your gin that's good for you- the tonic you mix your spirit with is also doing you some good while you unwind. Tonic has been known to boost the metabolism and the immune system, as well as increasing productivity (maybe that's why all your best ideas happen in the pub¦).
5) Live Longer
We've all heard that the odd glass of red wine is good for our hearts, but did you know than gin can have the same effect? Aside from helping us destress (not a quality to be sniffed at), juniper berries can help strengthen the connective tissues in your veins, and could help to prevent clogged arteries. So there we have it! When you're sipping on your gin and tonic later remember that (in moderation) your favourite spirit is doing a world of good to your body!
